Well,
here we ago on Day 3 of the 500 Word per
Day 31-Day Challenge. I committed to doing this a few days ago and so far so good.
I did forget to post this on my blog which was what
I wanted to do, in addition, to posting on Facebook and putting on my writing
Facebook Fan Page. New habits take time to get acclimated to doing but, I will
get it done. I must say that I have been writing at night, and I think I will
have to change that. In the past writing
at night, worked for me or at least I felt it did. I used to write at
night because; I thought that by doing it
at the end of the day I could release everything that was on my mind throughout
the entire day. That may sound good, in theory, however, as we all rush through our days,
working on projects, tending to the needs of our families, building business or just simply living life. I seem to
be mentally exhausted at the end of the day, want to wind down, and not have to
do something so mentally taxing. Moreover, what do you know today’s prompt is
about getting up an hour early, and I will have
to try this, I think. When I saw that I wondered to myself, do I want to get up an hour
early to write? And I am not quite sure that I do because I do not usually go to bed until around 2 am. I will figure this out, the one thing that I know with certainty
is that I will continue writing every day no matter the when, where, what, why
or how. I will get the work done because I made a commitment to you all and
most importantly to myself. When I make a commitment to myself to the best of my abilities, I do what it takes to keep it or reassess if I must. I
do know that there are benefits to getting up early in the morning to write.
You hopefully have had 7 to 8 hours of great sleep, which will lend itself to a
clear mind and an energetic thought process. If
you had good dreams, you would have something great to express through the
written word. If your dreams were not so great, you could write to release your
thoughts and feelings so that you would not carry those negative thoughts into
your day. I may have to compromise a little and write during the day. After I
had my 7 to 8 hours of recuperative sleep, eaten breakfast, exercise, groomed myself
and participated in my morning mindfulness, prayer and meditation ritual. I
will have to see what happens, I think that the most important thing is that I
write, I will figure out whether day, afternoon or evening works best. The one
thing that I know for sure is that I want what I write to be effective and helpful
to those who read it. That is all for now, remember to be good to yourself and
live your life on purpose.
